Our 25th Anniversary Gala Ball

Gala Ball is the correct description. We ate, we partied, we danced, we bid on auction items, and WE HAD FUN. For those of you that joined in the celebration, you know what a good time we had.

The ball was held at the Hilton again this year. That meant that the food was great as usual. Dancing was to the West Fifth Avenue Band, a wonderful 5 piece band that seemed to be able to play anything. The dance floor was always crowed.

We were able to fit over 100 silent auction items into the lobby, where everyone could take their time examining the wonderful things on the display tables. Some lucky winner is going to have all their windows washed. Another silent auction winner is going to hear the Sacramento Philharmonic. There were lots of jewelry items, Kings tickets, gift baskets, and even an afternoon tea in the auction. There were even some raffle ticket winners. In fact, our President, Cal Sachs was the winner of the card raffle.

The live auction was conducted by Mike (Dean) and Paul (Specter) with their usual Jewish wit. One live auction winner will enjoy dinner for four at Mike and Lynn Deans’ house. Some other lucky winner is going to enjoy watching the Kings play from a founders’ box.

Rachel Silber set up a “History of TOR/SJC” photo show in the lobby, so everyone that’s been here a few years could reminisce about the days of the Donut Shop. There was also a display in the lobby showing the construction of the Synagogue.

For those that wanted memento pictures, Kimberly Olker, with the help of Jason Fassler, provided portrait photography at a nominal price. For those of you that didn’t have a chance to pick up your pictures, or want to see some pictures of the event, check out Kimberly’s web site at www.artisticfocus.smugmug.com or click here.

What a great way to celebrate our silver anniversary.
