Our Leadership

2018-2019 Board of Trustees

Kimberly Olker - President

Hello. My name is Kimberly Olker, President of the TOR Board of Trustees. I have been part of TOR (originally as Sunrise Jewish Congregation) since moving to the area in 1993.  My husband Dave & I  were looking for a place where we felt comfortable as an interfaith couple… and this was it. After having our 2 sons, Daniel & Matthew, we officially joined TOR so that they could participate in the education program. Both boys went through the many years of Sunday school, Hebrew school, their Bar Mitzvah, TASTY, confirmation, & being a madrich. They are now both going to school on the east coast. I served on the TOR board for 4 years before this current position. I am a certified professional photographer specializing in portraiture and events. It’s especially fulfilling for me when I can attend TOR Bar/bat Mitzvah services while also capturing wonderful memories for the family. I also serve on the local board for PPSV, the Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley.  I have seen Temple Or Rishon grow and change over the last ~25 years and look forward to being a part of the TOR community in the future.

Susan Stieber - Vice President

My name is Susan Stieber and I have been on the Temple Or Rishon Board of Directors for over three years. I am currently the Vice President and am honored to serve on the board with such dedicated and supportive members. I am married to Larry Stieber who is the Finance Committee Chair. Larry and I have three adult children who live locally with their spouses and six amazing grandchildren. We are both active at TOR because we feel an obligation to make sure that there is a strong Jewish community for the next generation and generations to come. I enjoy the friendships that I have made while being a part of TOR and look forward to the future growth of our TOR community.

Marc Dubin - Secretary

Shalom. My name is Marc Dubin, Secretary of the Temple Or Rishon Board of Trustees. My wife, Ila, and I joined Temple Or Rishon in 1983 when it was known as Sunrise Jewish Congregation. We served on the site search committee and building committee in the development of our facilities on Hazel Avenue. I am a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and retired public school teacher. I have served on the board for numerous terms and was the Temple representative on the Sacramento area Bureau of Jewish Education. Our four children, Samuel (26), Miriam (24), Gabriel (24), and Asher (24) received their Jewish education and became B’nai Mitzvah at Temple Or Rishon. Ila served on the temple board as a director and as the treasurer in the early years, as well as the Purim carnival and bagel sales organizer. Both Ila and I serve on the board of the Folsom Lake Community Concert Association and both of us usher for the Harris Center at Folsom Lake College and at the B Street Theatre. My retirement hobby (job) is theatrical lighting, theatrical sound, and theatrical production.

Bill Sloan - Treasurer

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. I am a dentist retired from clinical practice, and am working part-time for Delta Dental Insurance Company. When I was growing up my parents belonged to Temple Beth David in Temple City, where I became a Bar Mitzvah and was confirmed by their religious school. I joined Sunrise Jewish Congregation with my family in 1987 primarily to enroll my children  in religious school. My 2 younger children eventually became B’nai Mitzvot and confirmed.  I’ve been the temple treasurer off and on since 1995. My wife, Kathy, and I have enjoyed participating in the temple choir since 1993.  Kathy and I have a wonderful blended family of 6 children, their spouses and 4 grandchildren.

Stephen Fassler - Trustee

My wife Beth and I joined TOR over twenty years ago and have three children that all participated in B’nai Mitzvahs at this temple.  We have been involved with multiple fund-raising activities as well as participating in many of the fun activities including adult retreats in Tahoe, camping, men’s club.  Our children are proud to be Jewish and have been counselors for Birthright, Camp Newman and Tasty.  Beth and I own a local business since 2003 providing technical support for clients involved in marketing and tradeshows.  I was born and raised in California with a degree in electronics from Cal Poly and a teaching credential for community colleges.  We are slowing down with our business so that we have more time to enjoy each other, golf and hike and travel the world.

Greg Konkoff - Trustee

Mark Silber - Trustee

My wife, Rachel, and I joined TOR in 2003 after we moved to El Dorado County from the Bay Area and when our children (Noah, now 21, and Maya, now 17) were still little. Over the years, we’ve become increasingly involved in temple activities and leadership – from a great chavurah to gala fundraisers, Men’s Club, the security committee, and various other roles and events. The members of Or Rishon have come to feel like an extension of our own family, and their influences have helped us shape our kids into the happy and secure people they are becoming. In addition to my personal experience with our temple community, I bring to my role as a TOR board trustee more than 25 years of business experience in purchasing and general management for biopharmaceutical manufacturing companies, and a commitment to represent and fulfill both the current and future needs of our diverse and growing membership.

Rachel Wallace - Trustee

Shalom! My name is Rachel Wallace. My family became part of the Temple Or Rishon community in 2014, and immediately felt welcomed and 'at home.' My husband, Mike, and I have two children, Megan (15 years) and Corey (11 years). Temple Or Rishon is a place of both spirituality and friendships in which we feel comfortable as in interfaith couple, and feel grateful as parents that our children choose to be greatly involved with the activities and celebrations here. While this is my first term on the temple board, I enjoy Or Rishon Women, have helped with the annual gala, and contribute to various religious school events. In addition, I am an elementary school teacher and clean-eating food lover.
